The meaning and significance of qualified vocational education increases more and more as the structure of occupational systems changes, demands at the workplace alter, and last, but not least economy develops. The dual system of vocational education in the German-speaking regions is of exemplary character and is increasingly esteemed all through the world. Learning inside and on the background of work life and business processes is one of its defining factors of success. It is achieved through the close co-operation of both educational locations, the training company and the vocational school. Vocational schools significantly contribute as a competent and reliable partner to the dual system of vocational education, and provide the economy with urgently needed specialists as well as they help integrate young adults into working and professional environments. In a tri-national comparison of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the expert conference debated which framework conditions are necessary to keep up the capacities of the educational location vocational school and, thus, the attractiveness of the entire dual system in future.
