The economic crisis precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic has reversed much progress on human capital attained over years, making it even harder to realize the goal of reducing extreme poverty to less than 3 percent by 2030. With a particular focus on China and the Asia-Pacific region, this session will look at the effects of the COVID-19 on jobs and the future of work and how inclusive skills development policies can contribute to strengthening the resilience of households, countries, and societies in future emergencies.
