Anna Du

3M-Discovery Young Scientist

Anna Du is 13 years old and is a big fan of both science and engineering. Through her explorations of beaches, she developed a strong appreciation for the ocean and marine life. In recent years, she has focused on the ever-worsening problem of microplastic pollution around the world. She invented a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) which uses infrared and artificial intelligence to identify and map regions of microplastic accumulation. She has been named one of the top ten young scientists by 3M and Discovery Channel, as well as one of the top 30 science fair winners in the Broadcom Masters competition.
