2.2 Business sector showcase: Job-rich opportunities of the green transition
In many regions, unemployment, underemployment, and job insecurity are affecting both uneducated and educated youth. Limited job opportunities - especially for young women, - skills mismatch, low value of qualifications in some cases, as well as personal or cultural barriers are at the root cause. The existing shortage of skills, in particular in STEM, has a further consequence to meeting the evolving skill requirements of the green transition. This session will showcase examples of how partnerships with the business sector are accelerating climate change solutions in their structures and operations, and insights into job-rich opportunities for youth in both the post-pandemic recovery and green jobs expansion.
